"Spooky is over, time for Christmas"

"Spooky is over, time for Christmas," Roderick says as we drive passed a certain house in our neighborhood that is always the most festive during the holidays.  On Halloween, these guys turned their entire yard into a cemetery. They had a live witch making scary noises and people would even jump out at the trick or treaters as they walked to the front door.  We didn't dare take one step on that property.  It was, "too spooky." I could not agree more Roderick.  I was scared.

These days as we drive by this same house, it is the most cheerful home on the block! Candy canes line the driveway, Santa is out with his reindeer,  and outdoor lights shine the most beautiful array of colors.  I might enjoy Christmas more than my kids.  Something I think my mom instilled in us when we were young.  When looking to buy a house, one of the first things I would imagine is where a Christmas tree would go.  Silly I know but I can't help but love the month of December.  Yes I am one of those "annoying" people who listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving.  I LOVE getting ready for Christmas more than I enjoy the day itself.  It really is, "the most wonderful time of the year."  I mean, how could it not be.  Look at these little elves:

Backed Up

And I am not talking about my blogging.  I am talking about my little baby girl.  I know what you are thinking...OMG! TMI!  But, I write on here to remember all of the good, the fun, the amazing and well, the frustrating.  Its been a long few weeks.  Poor Sis has been constipated.  No eating, drinking or sleeping for her.  Oh, and no sleeping for mommy and daddy either.  We have taken care of the bathroom issue but Mckenna still has NO interest in drinking anything.  She stopped breastfeeding suddenly, won't drink formula, juice, water, Gatorade or pedialyte.  I have tried giving her bottles (many brands), sippy cups (every kind) and have even used a syringe (long and tedious but seems to be working okay).  I took her to see the Doctor last week and he assumed after her "backed up" issue that she would be interested in feeding again.  Not the case at all.  I think she has the Harvie, I mean, Mckenna stubborn gene :-) Is this just a glimpse into the future? Does this show me how she will be as a 16 year old? God help me.

This is the first time since October 2008 that I have not been pregnant and/or breastfeeding.  I am not quite sure what to do with myself.  I am not quite sure how to feel.  I know I should be ecstatic! I can drink 2 cups of coffee in the same day! I can pound beers! The truth is, I feel a bit sad.  My body has served such a great purpose for so long... now what? I know what you are thinking.  "Classic case of a girl not done having children."  I hear this all the time.  I should be done.  But I don't want to be.  Wonder what God has in store for us.  For now, my body is mine again.  Time to get it back in shape!

OH, I still have much to blog about so be patient loyal readers.  We shall be back.  Here are some pics of Sis pre-constipation/feeding issues.  What an angel... even if she is stubborn. XO

Love you Sis!
