Our new baby

The Harvie family is pleased to welcome the new addition to our family
INTRODUCING:
Tahoe Car Harvie
Born: 2011
21,000 Miles
Proud Brother: Roderick John Harvie (who thinks Tahoe Car is all his)
Proud Sister: Mckenna Rose Harvie (who is always along for the ride)
Proud Dad: Robert Schuyler Harvie (who LOVES to ask how the Tahoe Car is doing, how she drives and if I love it)
Proud Mom: Amy Lynn Harvie (who actually gets to drive the car with the kid in the backseat saying to be careful with his Tahoe Car, not to touch his Tahoe Car, and to drive safe with his Tahoe Car)

Don't worry guys. I will do with Tahoe Car what I do with all my babies. I will worry, obsess, research, worry, spread out vaccines, worry, love him, blog about him, and worry just to make sure he is well taken care of.  Wait, no I won't.
Welcome to the family Tahoe Car.
Remember, as far as anyone knows, we are a nice, NORMAL family.

Mckenna's first photo shoot with Junebug

I might be Junebug Photography's BIGGEST fan! If there was a "like" button under each of these pictures, I would hit it every time.  Prita, we might be onto something here.  Facebook fan page??? Anyway, since the sun has been out, we decided to take some "one year" pictures of our Mckenna Rosebud.  I realize she is one year and one month but who is counting? Besides, she has matured so much since her big birthday ball. That's right. She was able to sit still, pose on command, and smile for the camera. She's practically a lady.

Can't get over how much she looks like Roderick here.  This is 100% his expression. Crazyness.
And just because I have connections, I had my son jump in a few of the shots.  The camera loves him.
Ok, the camera loves both of them.

I'm the luckiest mom on the face of this earth.  Thank you Junebug for reminding me over and over and over again.  XO

I've come a long way

Yes, that is Mckenna.
Yes, she is eating off of the floor.
Yes, I would have died if Roderick ever tried this.
Yes, she is my second child so I have loosened up a bit.
Yes, I will say it again.
I have come a loooong way.
Just sayin'

A day at the park with Junebug

Gosh I love Prita's new business.  She takes Roderick and Kennedy to the park one afternoon and WHAM, takes some adorable pics just like that.  It doesn't suck.

Yes. Roderick wore that outfit to school.  And the Store.  And to bed.  And every day for over a week.  OCD runs in the family....

Hair Gel

Roderick's new obsession.  And I LOVE it!!!

I'm doing it

Yep.  Be the first to see it here.  I am leaving the country on Tuesday, May 8th to watch my dad race his car at the Historic Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.  I will be returning exactly one week later on Tuesday, May 15th.

Was it a tough decision?  Yes.
Did I book my flight with anxiety? Yes.
Am I going to miss my kids? YES! YES! And YES!

Was it important for my dad? Yes.
Was it important for my husband? Yes.
Did I compromise? I think so.  I am going on the trip just not for the whole time.
Am I excited to see my dear friends Tristan, Nadya and Lyra who will be meeting us in Nice? YES!!!
Will we SKYPE every day? Yes.
Will I think about what my kids are doing at every moment? Yes.
Will I worry? Yes.
Will my kids be in good hands? YES!
Will I miss my kids? YES!!!
Do I have a back up plan? YES!
The ticket is for Amy Harvie.  The good news? I know another one.  She is my husband's sister!!! Don't get your hopes up just yet Amy. :-)

BUT

Will I ever have this opportunity again? No.
Am I going to let worry stop me from having a good time? No.
Am I going to regret going in this wonderful vacation with my husband and many family members? No.

SO, with that being said... LOOK OUT MONTE CARLO CUZ HERE WE COME AND WE AIN'T NEVER LEAVIN (that was for my girls).

Having only 1 Birthday Party is so 1995

We do it different these days.  We like to have multiple parties so the celebrations can continue.  You only turn 1 once.  Plus, every girl should have high tea at the American Girl store don’t you think?  Especially if the girl of the year is named Mckenna. It just seemed right.  And it was.
What is a boy to do in a store full of dolls anyway? I know! Find the only other boy in the store, sit on the windowsill and talk about CARS shoes! And that is exactly what Roderick did.  Boys will be boys.

The Birthday Ball

Is it okay if I say that Mckenna's First Birthday Ball was the best party I have ever been to? Well, okay.  With the exception of Theta Chi's Mafia Wedding exchange or Upside Down Margaritas at Lambda Chi's it was the best party.  Well, expect for Pi Phi Raft Trip and our Spring Formal it was the best... OK.  So it was the BEST FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY!

Highlights:
-A very crowded house full of family and friends all gathered to wish Mckenna a very happy birthday.
-Vince "the Magician" and his wife "the Face Painter." My dad actually surprised us with Vince and I had no idea he was coming. I actually thought it was a joke! Turns out, Vince was quite the entertainer. Well, depending on who you ask... Chris??? Despite the fact that I am still finding his business cards all over the house, he was one of my favorite parts of the day.
-The snow falling outside.
-Cousins playing together.
-Friends playing together.
-Watching Mckenna eat lots and lots of cake.
-Looking back at pictures and being able to see the happy faces.

Low Lights:
-Finding Vince's business cards all over the kitchen.
-The dirty floors.
-The dishes.
-Finding Vince's business cards all over the bathrooms.
-The guests that could not be at the party.
-The cleanup.
-Finding Vince's business cards in my purse a week later.
- Having people call and say they have found business cards in their purses and pockets.  He really wanted more clients! I know how to reach him if anyone is interested.  :-)

A HUGE thank you to my talented step sister Marji who made all of the decor, invites, cookies and suckers. A HUGE thank you to my adorable cousin Clare who made all of the cupcakes and the special cake for Mckenna. Thank you Junebug Photography for capturing the most precious of moments.  I also want to thank God, my Agent, and the Hollywood Foreign Press... OK, maybe not.

The Birthday Girl

These are some of my favorite things about my little birthday girl.

She LOVES to give kisses.  If she hears the word KISS she starts smacking her lips.  Something you better stop doing by the time you are a teenager Sis.
She LOVES to crawl up the stairs.  Even the gate does not stop you.
She LOVES to dance to nursery rhymes.  Something you get from your mom.  You can thank me later.
She LOVES food.  How then are you in the first percentile for weight? You are a tiny 16 pounds.  You clearly have my metabolism Sis.  You can thank me later.  :-)
She sleeps through the night.
She fights back with her brother.  I know I should not be happy about this but it pleases me to see that she will stand up for herself.  Mckenna has no problem taking Roderick's toys away from him if in fact, she had them first.  She is tough.  Another thing you get from me Kitten.  You can thank me later.
She pulls herself up and pushes the walker all over the room.
She is potty trained, well sort of.  She has not had a blow out this week so we are making progress.  Something you get from your father.  Don't bother thanking him. :-)
She has 6 teeth (4 on the top and 2 on the bottom)
She loves to laugh and smile.
She gives hugs and pats us on the back.
She snuggles.
She loves her brother.
She loves her parents.
She is all I could have ever wanted in a daughter and I am so very blessed to have such a wonderful baby girl.
Happy First Birthday Mckenna, Sissy, Sissy Bear, Sissy Girl, Rosie, Rose Bud, Minnie Mouse, Minnie Muh, Kitten, Kitten Girl.
I LOVE YOU. XOXO
