In my last post, I share some of the beautiful things in this world. Today, with so much on my heart, I think about how life can be mean, cruel and down right unfair. I will never understand WHY bad things happen to good people, especially children. And while I have no answers, I have to believe God has a plan for everyone. Some days I can find the "positives" in ugly situations. Today, I can't. While I wait for answers, and search for clarity and purpose, my heart feels less full/ complete,
for so many reasons.
This is just one.
On April 26th, we celebrated Amelie and the short 9 years she blessed this earth. Family, friends, teachers and community members, gathered together to share special moments about a little girl who left us too soon.
This is what I shared that day:
Amelie “Mei Mei” Rue
By: Amy Harvie
Amelie “Mei Mei” Rue, you left us
too soon
While we can’t see you here, we’ll
look to the moon
For your bright smile and
laughter too
Everyday someone is missing you
This last year seems so unfair
And I’ll never understand
Why God chose you to be the one
To take in his hands
Through the tough times and good
ones too
You never let your illness hinder
you
The smiles continued, the hope
never died
Your loving family never left
your side
As lover of animals, science, the
arts
You’re passion for life is in our
hearts
From singing, to acting and
dancing too
In 9 short years- look at all you
could do
I won’t forget to mention the
impact you had
I think about that, every time I
feel sad
I learned more from you- how can
that be?
A little girl - could really
change me?
You taught me to appreciate – to
enjoy each day
And you did it in such a graceful
way
You taught us love, courage and
hope
To smile through the pain - and
how to cope
Even after treatment, you lost
your hair
You never stopped dreaming, you
wouldn’t dare
How does she do it? Stay so
strong?
Smile on her face- all day long?
And all of a sudden, it came to
me
She’s living her life, the way it
should be
Love in the moment, laugh through
the pain
Since I’ve met you, my life is not
the same
Today we remember, the girl you
were
As your 2nd grade
teacher, with Mr. Duerr
I’m thankful for the chance to
get to know you
Despite the agony you had to go
through
But now we know that you’re pain
free
No headaches, no wheelchair and you
can see
And while we mourn you had to go
We try to remember you’re over
the rainbow
Enjoy heaven- and whatever you do
Say hi to Gloria, Anthony and
Peyton too
Spend time with your dad and
don’t ever forget
You’re family down here wasn’t
ready yet
To say goodbye or watch you leave
So comfort them, look out for
them, let them believe
While your body is gone, your
spirit remains
And when the sun comes out to
meet the rain
That colorful rainbow will appear
They’ll feel your love and know
you’re here
Goodbye sweet girl, know it’s
true
Everyone here will really miss
you
You’re and angel now, watching
from above
Your mom, your siblings, they
feel the love
And before I go, I want to say
Rest in peace dear child
Today and everyday
